Storm damage outside?Keep your distance.

Wind, falling limbs, ice, water, and utility events can damage the point where electricity reaches a property. Parts may remain energized even when the building appears to have no power.

Person calling Buckeye Electric for urgent storm-related electrical help
Storm response may require coordination between the property owner, electrician, utility, and inspector.

First response

Assume damaged equipment is energized.

Do not touch a fallen line, tree, fence, vehicle, roof component, meter enclosure, or other object that may be in contact with electrical conductors. Keep other people away and contact the utility or emergency services from a safe location.

Do not enter standing water where wiring, outlets, panels, appliances, or service equipment may be present.

Property-side repairs

Utility power is only part of the service.

The utility may own the meter and its supply, while the property owner is responsible for equipment such as the meter base, service mast, weatherhead, disconnect, panel, and related wiring. Exact ownership depends on the utility and service configuration.

Buckeye Electric can assess customer-owned damage, make the site safe, plan repairs, and coordinate restoration steps with the utility and local inspection authority.

  • Bent or detached service mast or weatherhead
  • Damaged meter base, enclosure, panel, or exterior wiring
  • Water intrusion, corrosion, heat, odor, buzzing, or arcing
  • Full or partial outage limited to the property

What to send

Photos only from a safe distance.

Text the address, a brief description, whether the utility has been contacted, and wide photos taken without approaching damaged equipment. Do not climb, move limbs, open enclosures, or cross barriers to get a closer picture.

After-hours and emergency response is based on technician availability, conditions, and safe access.
