EV charging safety

A charger is a long-duration electrical load.

Vehicle charging can run for hours at a time. Loose connections, worn receptacles, undersized wiring, or equipment that does not match the circuit can build heat during every charging session.

  • Panel capacity and load review
  • A dedicated, correctly sized circuit
  • Listed equipment suited to the location
  • Testing, commissioning, and permit guidance

A complete installation

From the panel
to the parking spot.

Charger installation is more than mounting a box. We evaluate the electrical service, select the circuit, plan the route, install the equipment, and test the complete system.

  1. 01
    Review the load

We assess panel capacity, available space, and the charging demand.

  2. 02
    Plan the circuit

We choose a safe route and equipment matched to the location.

  3. 03
    Install to code

Our licensed team installs the circuit, protection, outlet, or charger.

  4. 04
    Connect and test

We verify operation and help you understand the finished setup.

How much charging do you need?

Overnight range can be simpler than it sounds.

From our Tesla experience, a 20-amp 240-volt setup can add roughly 15 miles of range per charging hour, while a NEMA 14-50 setup may add about 30–33 miles per hour on compatible vehicles.

Charging speed varies by vehicle, charger, circuit capacity, temperature, and battery conditions. We confirm the right approach for your equipment.

We plan the electrical work around who will charge, where vehicles park, and how the property uses power.

01

Single-vehicle homes

Wall-mounted chargers and 240-volt outlets sized around daily mileage, overnight charging time, and future vehicle plans.

02

Two-EV households

Power sharing, load management, or separate circuits that help two vehicles charge without automatically oversizing the service.

03

Workplaces + properties

Outdoor, pedestal, shared-parking, employee, tenant, and light commercial charging with practical circuit and access planning.

EV charging questions.

Send your address, vehicle, preferred charger, and a few photos of the panel and parking location for the fastest start.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?+

Not always. We review the existing service and charging load first. When capacity is limited, a smaller circuit or load-management option may be more practical than a full panel upgrade.

Can you install the charger I already purchased?+

Yes, provided the charger is listed for the application and compatible with the vehicle, circuit, and installation location. Share the model information when requesting an estimate.

Should I choose a NEMA 14-50 outlet or hardwired charger?+

A NEMA outlet offers plug-in flexibility. A hardwired charger removes the receptacle connection, works well for frequent charging, and may support higher charging capacity. We compare both options for your property.

Do you handle permits and inspections?+

Permit and inspection requirements vary by city and by the scope of work. We identify what applies to the installation and explain the process before work begins.

Can you install outdoor or detached-garage charging?+

Yes. We plan equipment, wiring methods, mounting, and protection around the actual exposure, distance, and route to the parking location.

Can one electrical service support two EVs?+

Often, yes. Depending on the service and vehicles, options may include two dedicated circuits, charger power sharing, or load management that limits charging demand when the property is using more power.

Do you repair and maintain existing EV chargers?+

Yes. Buckeye Electric provides installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for residential and commercial charging equipment.

What affects the installation price?+

Common factors include panel capacity, circuit size, distance to the parking location, finished-wall access, trenching, indoor or outdoor equipment, permits, and the charger selected.
